2007 25 Years In Milton Keynes
Since setting up his own production company in 1982, John has been responsible for writing, producing and in many cases, camera operation for more than 200 training and marketing programmes both on film and television. In recent years, he has enthusiastically promoted the use of CD-Rom, DVD and material for the worldwide web. Many programmes have been sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry both for training and marketing and a recent programme for the British Association of Research Quality Assurance entitled “An Introduction to Good Clinical Veterinary Practice” has been taken up by FEDESA, the European veterinary agency and published on both CD-Rom and the worldwide web.
To satisfy, the ‘art’ in “Film and Television Production”, John has produced and marketed many programmes such as “Still Life in Oils”, “Painting a Portrait”, “Travelling Painter in Greece”, “The History of the American Duck Decoy”, “The Art of Chinese Brush Painting”, “Making A Ballet” and the Royal Ballet School’s Summer Workshop.
Over the years, John has been commissioned by independent production companies making a contribution as director/cameraman to programmes such as “When Pipers Play”, the history of bagpipes, “The American Piper” for Westminster King, mostly shot in New England. “Warlord”, the story of Khun Sa, a drugs warlord in the Sharn State of Burma, with such locations as the Nevada Desert and a Senate Sub-committee in Washington DC.
High quality production standards and clear communications continue to be John’s main aim and objective for his company.
John Hemson Associates are also dedicated to the promotion of the new city of Milton Keynes. More than 24 years of extensive archive of the building of the new city has been built up and resulted in programmes like “Shapes of the City”, focusing on art in public places and “Theatre - The Right Time, The Right Place”, the story of the construction and operation of the new centre for arts in Milton Keynes. A new initiative, “Dreams of a City” is now in pre-production and examines the enormous selection of sport and leisure activities available in Milton Keynes.
The unique Independent News Service (TV), INS, has been established for six years in Milton Keynes. Also, the Milton Keynes Film and Television Archive is available to those researching the history of the City.
